VISION THERAPY MANAGER
Jennifer has been working along side Dr. Fink since the Burlington Practice opened in September 2000.
Her graduate and post graduate studies in Canada and Australia in the field of counselling have enabled her to bring a unique approach to her work in Vision Therapy. Jennifer has trained throughout the United States and Canada to facilitate Vision rehabilitation for those with Amblyopia, Strabismus, and Ocular Motor Dysfunctions such as those related to learning disabilities and brain injuries and developmental delays. She takes pride in educating patients, families and the community about the benefits of Vision Training and specialized Optometric Care.
In her role as Office Manager, Jennifer oversees customer service. She strives to ensure each patient receives professional courteous care and has an enjoyable experience at our practice.
Leslie has been with Dr. Fink for over 10 years. Shebrings many years of prior experience as an Optometric Assistant. She loves the interaction with the staff and patients. She is passionate about helping people feel their best and having an exceptional experience.
Vonita has been working in the medical field since 2005. She joined our team in July 2009 as a receptionist and pre-tester. Vonita was very eager to learn about the field of optometry and the visual process and her passion for helping others made her a perfect fit as a vision therapist. She joined our team of vision therapists in January of 2011 and is currently in the process of earning her certificate as a Certified Optometric Vision Therapist (COVT) from the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. She is furthering her knowledge by attending continuing education courses throughout Canada and the United States. Vonita’s favourite part of her day is working with children and helping them to achieve their vision-related goals.
Laura joined our team in 2010 as an optometric assistant. She has an excellent rapport with patients and her calm and patient demeanor makes her a perfect addition to our vision therapy team. She began working as a vision therapist in 2012. Laura enjoys watching her patients grow and develop new skills through the Vision Therapy program. Laura also works in our office as a CCOA HCAI Authorizing Officer.
Kailla has been part of our team since 2013. She started as an optometric assistant, and quickly expanded her knowledge by working in all areas of our office, including the front desk, contact lens and optical boutique. Kailla's bubbly personality and passion for learning made her a perfect fit for our vision therapy team. She has been working as a vision therapist since 2014. Kailla’s favourite part of her job is watching her patients grow and develop new skills as they move through the vision therapy program
MARKETING/HALTON VISION THERAPY CENTER ADMINISTRATION
Leslie F. joined our team in 2016 as an optometric assistant and marketing specialist. She has helped organize events at our office including our semi-annual trunk shows and several seminars held at our Halton Vision Therapy Center and Appleby College. Leslie is now working exclusively in our vision therapy center, bringing awareness of our vision therapy program to the public through marketing, events and social media.
CCOA HCAI AUTHORIZING OFFICER
Lacey is our CCOA HCAI Authorizing Officer. Has worked in Optometry for over eight years. What she enjoys most about her position is receiving the approvals for patients for the HCAI program for Vision Therapy and the people she works with.
Pamela grew up in Colombia were she earned her degree in Optometry and practiced as an optometrist for 15 years before moving to Canada in 2002. She joined our team in 2014 as an optometric assistant and worked with patients in pre-test and contact lens fitting. She quickly became interested in vision therapy and took the initiative to earn her title as a Certified Optometric Vision Therapist (COVT) from the College of Optometrists in Vision Development in April 2016. Combining her education and experience in optometry with her training in vision therapy, Pamela provides a level of expertise that is a true asset to her patients. Pamela has experience working with all types of vision therapy patients, including those struggling with eye movement and refractive conditions, amblyopia, strabismus, binocular vision deficiencies, and visual deficits secondary to brain injuries. Pamela is always eager to further her vision therapy knowledge, and has taken continuing education courses in Canada and the United States. Vision therapy is Pamela’s passion and she feels blessed every day to have the opportunity to improve the lives of her patients. In her free time, Pamela enjoys being outside, biking and hiking. She also enjoys staying fit by playing squash, swimming, and practicing yoga. Reading, watching movies and traveling are some of her favourite things to do all year round.
Pia grew up in the Philippines and worked there in the field of optometry since 2009. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 2008 and moved to Canada in 2015. She speaks both English and Tagalog fluently. Pia joined our team in 2015 as an optometric assistant, and quickly made the transition to our vision therapy team where she has been a great asset. Pia is always interested in furthering her knowledge in optometry and vision therapy; she has attended many seminars and workshops in order to enhance her knowledge and skills and is presently working on attaining her Canadian vision therapist certification. The best part of the day for Pia is interacting with her patients and supporting them in their vision therapy journey. She enjoys working with both children and adults. Pia enjoys spending her free time with her husband, traveling, trying new food, watching movies and talking to her family in the Philippines.
Nan is an internationally trained homeopath and has over 15 years of experience in the health care and management sector. Before immigrating to Canada in 2011, she worked in India's first cord blood stem cell banking industry. She completed the Medical Office Administration program in Canada in 2013, and is currently pursuing her certificate as a Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant.
Nan joined our team in 2016 and has been enjoying her time working with patients in pre-test. Her friendly personality and transferable skills and knowledge, makes her the perfect addition to our team.
DISPENSING OPTOMETRIC ASSISTANT
Hanna joined our team 2015 with 3 years of experience in the field of optometry. She oversees our optical boutique by ensuring our frame selection is full of the latest designs and trends, guiding patients to the best lens option for their lifestyle and ensuring lens fabrication and frame adjustments are completed to the highest standards. Having worked in several optical shops ranging from value eye-wear to high-end designer labels, she enjoys the challenge of finding each patient the right frame and lens combination that is fashionable, functional and budget friendly. Hanna also assists patients in our office by performing visual fields, Diopsys ERG and VEPs and high-definition retinal photos.
Tanya joined our team in November of 2015. She brings with her 11 years of customer service experience that helps ensure positive patient interactions. Tanya is passionate about all aspects of her job and is trained to assist patients in many areas of our office, including front desk, administration and frame selection and adjustments in our optical boutique. Tanya is very caring towards all patients and listens to their individual needs. Her favourite part of the day is meeting and assisting new and existing patients.
Mikayla is a grade 11 student at Corpus Christi High School. She enjoys and excels in the subject areas of math and science and is interested in studying health care in the future. She has been working part-time at our office since 2015 and in this time she has gained experience in the area of pre-test. She enjoys helping patients and learning new skills around the office. Outside of her studies and working at the office, Mikayla plays sports such as field hockey and rugby, and has been studying a high level of violin and piano since a young age. She is friendly, approachable, and co-operative, making her a great addition to our team.
Sarah joined our team in 2016 and works as an optometric assistant and at the front desk. Although she is new to the optometry industry, she has 10 years of experience working in the medical field. Sarah graduated from Mohawk collage with a medical administration diploma in 2012. In her free time, Sarah enjoys living an active lifestyle and volunteering at the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Sarah's warm and friendly personality makes her a welcome addition to our team.
Ginny joined our team in 2016 and works as an optometric assistant in pretest where she does various tests such as OCT scans, retinal photos, and diopsys. She brings patient care experience having been a volunteer at Runnymede Healthcare Centre since she was younger. Ginny is also involved as a coach for the Burlington Youth Soccer Club with U9, U11, and U13 competitive teams. Her favourite part of the job is interacting with people.
